Live Better With, a healthcare e-commerce platform founded by entrepreneur Tamara Rajah with the aim of helping people with long-term medical conditions, has secured significant new funding to expand its online marketplace and scale up its team.
The platform was first launched in the UK and US in 2015 by Tamara – a former partner at consultants McKinsey & Co – and has built up a community of more than 70,000 patients and carers to date.
Having worked in the healthcare sector for 10 years and experienced family members being diagnosed with long term health conditions, Tamara founded Live Better With after seeing a gap in the market for knowing where to buy products to ease the symptoms of cancer.
Live Better With’s online marketplace provides access to non-medical products, services and helpful views and information that can make day-to-day life better for those coping with long-term health issues.
In November 2017 the company collaborated with Guy’s Hospital in London and Browns More Hair Now to open the first shop for people living with cancer, selling a range of products from the Live Better With platform.
The series A investment was led by London-based venture capital firm Downing Ventures with investment from Daily Mail Group and Forward Partners. Downing Ventures is one of the UK’s most prolific early stage investors and is part of the wider investment management business Downing LLP, which has over 30 years of experience and in excess of £1.7 billion of funds under management.
This substantial new funding will be used to help expand the number of conditions that Live Better With can cater for. The platform first began with a strong focus on patients with cancer and now includes products and services for those with menopause. The company now hopes to diversify this even further.
The funding will also support significant new recruitment and building the brand for Live Better With’s own products on the marketplace.
